The Office of Planning and Quality (OPQ) is committed to ensuring that KFUPM continuously adopts the highest levels of quality in its three core areas of focus - Learning and Student's Experience, Research and Innovation, and Engagement and Impact. In light of this, The Benchmarking and Global Positioning Unit (BGP) of OPQ constantly carries out competitive and strategic benchmarking in order to assess KFUPM's current global position relative to top-rated universities. This will help to evaluate the university's performance with respect to meeting the current demands of modern education while identifying and resolving any gaps. This unit therefore ensures the global competitiveness of the university. With respect to the pursuit to increase the university's international rating, BGP ensures that in addition to the internal efforts of self-benchmarking through the evaluation of KFUPM's program offerings, processes and procedures, best practices from highly rated global universities are adopted to achieve the desired international rating and a sustainable future. Consequently, KFUPM soared from 186th to 160th position in the QS world university rankings in just 2 years.
